RE: Traveling Armed

Yes, legally and lawfully...why?
Because when seconds count, the police are a few minutes away...

RE: Coach-net service plans

I have the Gold. Would not be without it. Used it once for towing, no problem, no hassle, saved me a bundle.

RE: Dumping Charge..is this fair?

A local CG here charges $20, which, by the way, is what a one-night stay would cost (with free dumping in that case).
Another area CG charges $10, but is out of town a bit.
The state park only charges $5. Guess where I go now?
But, as with any governmental entity, I had to call twice to confirm. The first person I spoke to said you had to stay there to dump (I knew better because the state web site said differently), the second person I spoke to knew that $5 was right.
As with pretty much everything in our society, we are at their mercy. We pay what they demand, or go elsewhere.

Anyone tow an open car hauler?

Just wondering if anyone tows an open car hauler, instead of a tow dolly or 4-down.
What brand?
Electric brakes or no?
How do you like it?

RE: vent rattle down the road

Try the vent "open." Move the little tabs down so the vent can move.
I have the same noise and it really irritates me.
When I can remember to "unlock" the vent before I drive, it is quieter. My theory is that allows the vent door to move as the air pressure changes without being restricted by the closed tabs and therefore banging against the vent and rattling.
When the tabs are closed, the vent door (cover) still has some "play" (movement) in it and that is what causes the noise when it wiggles.

Anybody stayed at this either of these in Chattanooga TN?

Trav-l-park in Chattanooga
or
Shipp's RV Campground at the Camping World in Chattanooga.
I've been told you cannot reserve at Shipp's...first come gets the site...true?
What are your impressions of either or both places?

Smart Tote - Tote-n-Stor - Tote-Along - Which do you use??

Which of the portable holding tank-things do you use and how do you like it?
I'm leaning towards a 4-wheel Barker Tote-along. Found it at J.C. Whitney with free shipping at a good price.
I like the way it looks because it has a T-handle valve like my gray tank does. Would be easy to operate.
The Smart-tote (Thetford) looks to me like it fills and empties through the same connection (just in different positions) and doesn't look like it has a valve.
The Tote-n-stor you have to lift one end of it up to empty, and it just has 2 wheels so you have to lift to roll it.
What do you use and how do you like it?

Quick connectors on water hose?

Anyone here use those quick connect fittings on your drinking water hose?
If you do...plastic kind?...brass kind?
Do they leak?
Do you use them on both ends? (At the faucet and at the MH, or regulator on the way to the MH)

RE: Does anyone use a "Y" adapter for 2 water hoses?

That's a valid point that I had not considered...the OD of the MH pipe. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone use a "Y" adapter for 2 water hoses?

I'm wondering...if you notice reduced water flow...because the "Y" adapters I have looked at have a smaller orifice in them...not the full diameter as the hose.
I know that is because of the valve they contain, but I'm wanting to maximize flow.

RE: Look what I made for my water filter

Thanks.
Yes, first filter is for sediment, second is a combination filter for sediment, taste, odor, and cysts.
I've been using one of the "hose-end" regulators and the in-line blue cylinder filters. I haven't been happy with the water flow in the MH.
This set up should give me much improved water flow. I'm excited to try it out.

Look what I made for my water filter

I just bought a water filter set up (dual filters, regulator w/gauge, and another gauge to see what the pressure is going in).
I got it from the rvwaterfilterstore.
I thought it would be nice to have a stand for it, so I made one.
Here are some pics.

RE: Hello Middle and Western Tennessee RV'ers

Turns out I was right on both counts...Good Sam and FMCA both have chapters in, or that serve, TN.
Go to Tennessee Good Sams and click the Chapters link for more info.
Go to Family Motor Coach Association and click Chapters and then click Listings to see which chapters cover Tennessee.

RE: Hello Middle and Western Tennessee RV'ers

I was reading one of the RV magazines I get either from FMCA or Good Sam club...I THINK it was the Good Sam one...and they list state clubs...there are a few Good Sam Tenneessee clubs listed. They have state rallies in Pigeon Forge and at a COE campground (Defeated Creek) in Middle TN. I'll see if I can find the issue and post more info.

RE: Advice Needed: What is fair in this situation?

I agree with all comments above. Viewed as a whole, over three years, you have broken pretty much even...compared to what average storage would have cost you.
Family or not...it is time to move on.
Bite your tongue and tell them that you understand that they don't want their place to look like an RV park, so you are moving your rig to different storage.
You have to pick your battles and this isn't worth fighting...besides, absent a written agreement, you would lose.
Chalk it up to a learning experience.

RE: Dometic refrigerator recall

Yep...what they said. Had mine fixed. I find it curious that they didn't "fix" what may cause the problem...they just installed a thermocouple (??) that will cut power or something in the event of a fire (or overheating), and the metal heat shields that do what? Keep something from spraying and igniting? Keep a fire contained? So we've had a "recall" that "fixed" nothing...the refer still has a potential defect...but, they covered themselves in the event of a lawsuit.

RE: dog droppings

We have small dogs and ALWAYS pick up after them. We go to dog shows and agility trials and my observation has been that the larger the dog, the less likely the owner is to pick "it" up. That gives all dog owners a bad rep. I like the tales of retaliation the other posters recounted.

RE: mapping websites for RV's & RV GPS??

Does anyone know of other map sites than mapquest that has a choice to select RV or Truck ... or some hints.
I just went to Mapquest and can't find anything that says RV or Truck.
What am I not doing correctly? How do you get that info via Mapquest?

RE: Fewer Class A Units on the Road

I tried to find a spot in a Corps of Engineers campground in Tennessee. You can reserve a site online. Was almost impossible to find an available spot. All were FULL.
Also, still see many, many on the interstate in TN.
